Latest Affenpinscher Frequently Asked Questions:
What should i take note of? Like how to care? First answer gets 10 points.
Answer:Affenpinschers need to be groomed two to three times a week.Affenpinschers often appears on lists of dogs that allegedly do not shed (moult). However, every hair in the dog coat grows from a hair follicle, which has a cycle of growing, then dying and being replaced by another follicle. When the follicle dies, the hair is shed. The length of time of the growing and shedding cycle varies by breed, age, and by whether the dog is an inside or outside dog. "There is no such thing as a nonshedding breed."Frequent grooming reduces the amount of loose fur in the environment.
They are also called the monkey terrier or the moustached devil it that helps. Thanks
Answer:Do you mean a good name to call it? I'm not sure of this breed but regardless a good name should have a couple of syllables in it to aid training- Charlie, Benny, Caesar, Nero... etc
I saw an ad in a paper for an Affin-Pom puppy. Can these two be bred? I don't want to call if it's a scam. Thanks!
Answer:Yes, they can breed. But if I were you, I wouldn't call whoever put up the ad. It can possibly be a scam, I mean you never know. Here is what you can do if you are seriously dying to call: 1) Call them. Ask them a lot of questions such as: 1) Have you ever bred these two breeds? 2) Can I have a look at the dam and the sire? 3) Do you have any vet insurance I can refer to if I buy the puppy? You get the idea. Ask many questions. You can't just buy a puppy once you see some paper ad around your area. I got my Malti-Tzu (Shih-Tzu Maltese mix) dog from a reputable breeder in Hayward. 4) If you want a dog very badly, try doing some research around the Internet about them. 5) I strongly disagree with selfish "breeders" who only care about profit, not the animals' themselves. Do not call. 6) If you want a dog, you have to clearly state their breed, not just a random mix breed from a paper ad. 7) Good Luck.
I find his fur all over the floor, on my clothes. I sometimes use sticky tape lint remover and get a constant supply of fur....it never ends. I have trimmed him short to help but it does little good. This is a depressing problem for me as it is constant and endless.
Answer:dogs shed. It's a fact of dog ownership. Try switching him to a good food (Innova, Merrick, Eagle Pack, Canidae, etc..)and brushing him daily.
We just rescued a 2YO Female Affen. She will NOT eat dog food, only our food. She does not beg, but sits quietly to watch us eat and then runs to her bowl. The Vet suggested different foods, but so far they are just a waste of our money. She is truly a sweet dog and we are having difficulty not giving in to the sad eyes (OK, I am having difficulties - my husband and sons are fine). Thanks for any help you can offer!!!
Answer:She will eat when she is hungry. Perhaps she won't eat as much as you think she should but she may not be that active either. She will not live nearly as long if you continue to feed her human food. Human food is not good for them--dog food is specially formulated to meet their needs. If it makes you feel better, consider putting a sauce or gravy on her food. Maybe a scoop of non-fat cottage cheese/yogurt which is good for their digestion. But stand firm, be kind and stop with the human food.
