  • how to tell the difference between a white pomeranian and american eskimo dog?
i recently bought a white pomeranian it looks alot like some white pomeranians i have seen but it also looks and has alot of the characteristics of the toy american eskimo dogs, does anyone know how to tell the difference?
Answer:thats a hard one! a pomeranian that is "standard", that is, one that would do well in the show ring should not look anything at all like an american eskimo dog. The Pom would be MUCH smaller, and the tail has a very dramatic set, curled up and over the back. This curl is much more severe than you see in some other spitz breeds. However, pet quality poms from byb breeders and mills are generally alot bigger and have a much wider range of features. Without having registration papers and personal knowledge that the parents listed are correct, it would be next to impossible to tell a poorly bred Pom from a pet-quality Eskie. You probably have a Pom, if thats what the papers say. If the dog was found or is paperless though, its possible you have an eskie or even some other sort of mixed breed :) So long as you love her, thats whats important ;) -Neb

  • Difference between a toy and mini american eskimo dog?

(include pics please if you can) which one should we get? We want a friendly one that has energy and that is cuddleable. Can you walk both of them? Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

  • what do you think of the american eskimo dog?
i want to get the american eskimo dog but my parents are a little iffy about it because we already have one dog. i think that they are so cute and would be a good dog to have around and cuddle with and would be good to play with our other dog. let me know what you think.
Answer:I have a american eskimo dog who is 6 years old and he is a great dog! The thing is, they DO require a lot of brushing since they have a lot of hair. They also shed a lot so be prepared to see chunks of hair around your house if you don't keep up regular brushing. I try to brush my dog for at least 15-30 minutes a day. Like the others were saying, it's true, they can sometimes bark a little too much but that's just because american eskimos are very protective of their property. I always tap on the window if my eskimo starts barking too much and he will stop. Eskimos are very smart and will learn fast! They love being with their families and most likely will pick one member of your family to be especially loyal to (in my family it's my dad). If you get an eskimo try not to leave him in the house too long. Let him go outside if you have a backyard or patio and try to walk him as much as possible because eskimos like to explore and find things to do. Eskimos are always trying to please their masters and will get along easily with people. All in all, I think you will really enjoy having an eskimo because they are great dogs. I have a miniature one so he's a little smaller than the original eskimo. There are also toy eskimos too. If you get a miniature he/she won't get very big, mine only weighs about 20 pounds.

  • what is the difference between an american eskimo dog and an artic fox?
I have a Mini American Eskamo Dog and were talking and we are wondering the difference. I know that! I mean the chacteristics. What classiflies them apart?
Answer:Their list of differences is a mile long. A better question would be, "What are their similarities?" - and you would come up with very few. They are two completely different animals belonging to two completely different species. They barely even resemble each other, besides both being white (and even then, Arctic Foxes are not always white!). Foxes are related to dogs, but not like wolves are. They are not pack animals, and they cannot even interbreed with dogs.
