I know that going by the uk kennel club they are classed as american pitbull terriers but what would happen if you were found with one and had papers to prove it was a amstaff would it still be put down. ? And I know these are illegal in the UK But why are so many people selling them and breeding them all over the uk particually london and they advertise it all as well and dont get caught out so what's going on with that ?
Answer:You've asked numerous times - I've given you the link to the DEFRA site - if a dog is REPORTED and then investigated and found to be 'pitt bull type' it CAN be siezed and put down. It MAY be added to the excluded dogs register, neutered and muzzled. Read the Government info - there are no patrolling DEFRA guys looking for illegal dogs, but if you have one your dog may be killed and you could be fined. Answer:Same as any other dog - overt signs last about 5-7 days, although their receptive (and fertile) period lasts a few days before and after that. They can actually be spayed at any time, but it's best to wait until about two weeks after their heat. (Actually, it's even better to get them spayed before their first cycle even starts.)

Answer:there is no easy answer. Many people feel they are the same where others say different. the American Pit Bull Terrier ( APBT) and the American Staffordshire Terrier ( AST) where 1 and the same at one time. When AKC did register the AST they only took UKC registered APBT but did change the name. the AKC wanted nothing to do with the fighting background of the dogs. The AKC did close the stud books in the 70's so both breeds have been bred differently since. But some APBT are still being bred to AST. I do have a dual registered AST. So he is a AST and an APBT. If you have an AST who is AKC registered you can reg him with UKC or even ADBA as an APBT. BUT if you have an UKC or ADBA only dog you can not reg it with AKC. AKC feel they are separate breeds. Answer:I would stay away from any terrier breed. I have a Jack Russell Terrier, and the nature of the terrier beast is just that they need a lot of excercise. Also, terriers will chase just about anything, including bugs, shadows, noises, that moves or makes noise in any way. They do bark quite a bit too. I don't think it would be your best bet if you are an apartment dweller. Same goes for beagles... they howl, as do any other hound breeds. Chihuahuas and Pomeranians bark a lot too- I think it's a small dog thing... they all think they are much bigger than they actually are. I know someone who has two italian greyhounds and live in an apartment. They are smaller than greyhounds, so medium sized. They do like to run, so if you get this breed, be sure that you are close to a dog park of some kind, or that he/she goes for plenty of walks. Otherwise, they are very peaceful animals that don't really bark. Poodles aren't bad.. .they don't shed hair at all! And, don't really require that much excercise. I hope this helps!
