I have a list of all the AKC recognized breeds. Can you find any oddles, teacups, etc? Do you think that they are still breeds? Do you think that the AKC should still recognize them? Heres the list: Affenpinscher Afghan Hound Airedale Terrier Akita Alaskan Malamute American Eskimo Dog American Foxhound American Staffordshire Terrier American Water Spaniel Anatolian Shepherd Dog Australian Cattle Dog Australian Shepherd Australian Terrier Basenji Basset Hound Beagle Bearded Collie Beauceron Bedlington Terrier Belgian Malinois Belgian Sheepdog Belgian Tervuren Bernese Mountain Dog Bichon Frise Black and Tan Coonhound Black Russian Terrier Bloodhound Border Collie Border Terrier Borzoi Boston Terrier Bouvier des Flandres Boxer Briard Brittany Brussels Griffon Bull Terrier Bulldog Bullmastiff Cairn Terrier Canaan Dog Cardigan Welsh Corgi Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Chesapeake Bay Retriever Chihuahua Chinese Crested Chinese Shar-Pei Chow Chow Clumber Spaniel Cocker Spaniel Collie Curly-Coated Retriever Dachshund Dalmatian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Doberman Pinscher English Cocker Spaniel English Foxhound English Setter English Springer Spaniel English Toy Spaniel Field Spaniel Finnish Spitz Flat-Coated Retriever French Bulldog German Pinscher German Shepherd Dog German Shorthaired Pointer German Wirehaired Pointer Giant Schnauzer Glen of Imaal Terrier Golden Retriever Gordon Setter Great Dane Great Pyrenees Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Greyhound Harrier Havanese Ibizan Hound Irish Setter Irish Terrier Irish Water Spaniel Irish Wolfhound Italian Greyhound Japanese Chin Keeshond Kerry Blue Terrier Komondor Kuvasz Labrador Retriever Lakeland Terrier Lhasa Apso Löwchen Maltese Manchester Terrier Mastiff Miniature Bull Terrier Miniature Pinscher Miniature Schnauzer Neapolitan Mastiff Newfoundland Norfolk Terrier Norwegian Elkhound Norwich Terrier Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Old English Sheepdog Otterhound Papillon Parson Russell Terrier Pekingese Curly-Coated Retriever Dachshund Dalmatian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Doberman Pinscher English Cocker Spaniel English Foxhound English Setter English Springer Spaniel English Toy Spaniel Field Spaniel Finnish Spitz Flat-Coated Retriever French Bulldog German Pinscher German Shepherd Dog German Shorthaired Pointer German Wirehaired Pointer Giant Schnauzer Glen of Imaal Terrier Golden Retriever Gordon Setter Great Dane Great Pyrenees Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Greyhound Harrier Havanese Ibizan Hound Irish Setter Irish Terrier Irish Water Spaniel Irish Wolfhound Italian Greyhound Japanese Chin Keeshond Kerry Blue Terrier Komondor Kuvasz Labrador Retriever Lakeland Terrier Lhasa Apso Löwchen Maltese Manchester Terrier Mastiff Miniature Bull Terrier Miniature Pinscher Miniature Schnauzer Neapolitan Mastiff Newfoundland Norfolk Terrier Norwegian Elkhound Norwich Terrier Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Old English Sheepdog Otterhound Papillon Parson Russell Terrier Pekingese Pembroke Welsh Corgi Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Pharaoh Hound Plott Pointer Polish Lowland Sheepdog Pomeranian Poodle Portuguese Water Dog Pug Puli Rhodesian Ridgeback Rottweiler Saint Bernard Saluki Samoyed Schipperke Scottish Deerhound Scottish Terrier Sealyham Terrier Shetland Sheepdog Shiba Inu Shih Tzu Siberian Husky Silky Terrier Skye Terrier Smooth Fox Terrier Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Spinone Italiano Staffordshire Bull Terrier Standard Schnauzer Sussex Spaniel Swedish Vallhund Tibetan Mastiff Tibetan Spaniel Tibetan Terrier Toy Fox Terrier Vizsla Weimaraner Welsh Springer Spaniel Welsh Terrier West Highland White Terrier Whippet Wire Fox Terrier Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Yorkshire Terrier Are these breeds not good enough for you? Answer:Yep, I saw NO Oddles, Poo's (besides pure bred poodles ). But the real weird thing is that you forgot the Pomadoodleshepherdpoodle! Thats a pure bred!!!!!!!!!!!!! I even saw it on that one website! what was it called?? Oh ya DogBreedInfo. WHAT A JOKE! You can just about here all the "designer" dog owners looking at this going "OOH you forgot my pure bred Shampoochiloogoo! You obviously dont know what you are talking about! Shampoochiloogoo's are a PURE BREED!". It just makes laugh whenever someone says that they actually have a pure bred AKC designer dog. I mean, I am not laughing b/c of the dog. I am laughing at how stupid they would have to be to buy it. CURSE YOU BYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CURSE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for posting this!
I'm new to the purebred dog world, having always raised mixed-breed dogs. However, I'm interested in entering the world of showing and breeding purebred dogs. My difficulty appears in choosing which breed to begin working with. I've narrowed it down to a list of: American Water Spaniel English Springer Spaniel Field Spaniel Gordon Setter Greyhound Italian Greyhound Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Papillon Whippet If you have any opinion as to the pros and cons of breeding or showing any of these dogs, please let me know. And let there be no doubt about my intentions to preserve the breed standards in these dogs. Also, I'd like some information about the average yearly costs of breeding and showing any of these beautiful animals. Thank you! Also, space isn't an issue. My husband and I live on 14 acres of farmland. However, we get snow in the winter. Also, we both work during the day, but I'm home by 5 everyday. I know my list of breeds differ greatly, but I've grown up with all sorts of dogs, so I have a wide interest range.
Answer:I personally love the Italian Greyhound, however, the cold, snowy winters may pose a problem for them as they get very cold very quickly. My IG and foster IGs often require a jacket to go outside when it is below freezing, and forget walking in the snow. I have to shovel a snow free area for them to potty. Your best bet, meet and speak with the local breed clubs of all the breeds you are interested in. Get to know the people, make friends, get first hand encounters with the breeds.....and then make a specific breed choice. No need to rush anything.
I have been thinking about what breeds would suit me, so I took a dog breed selector quiz on Iams.com. These were my top 15 results: Labrador Retriever 79% Portuguese Water Dog 78% Australian Shepherd 73% Collie (Smooth) 73% Collie (Rough) 72% Bichon Frise 71% Norwegian Buhund 71% Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier 69% Löwchen 69% Bearded Collie 69% Golden Retriever 68% Curly-Coated Retriever 68% Chinese Crested 67% American Water Spaniel 67% Keeshond 67% Now, I know that these quizzes aren't always totally accurate. They hardly ever are. Butt hey can give me an idea of what to look further into. For example, I don't think an Aussie suits me at all; I can do 30 to 45 minutes of daily exercise such as walking, agility, and playing. An then about 10 or at most 20 minutes of training. I do want a dog that I can do agility with, and a dog that likes water as I love the beach and a favorite past time of mine is throwing a ball into the water and watching a dog go get it. I am also interested in ...(I am also interested in)dock jumping. Does this seems to point to retrievers and sporting breeds? I'd like some recommendations. Size would need to not surpass 80 lbs. at absolute most. I am a fairly dominant person with animals, and I believe in positive reinforcement, but I have never fully owned a dog of my own so I don't want to go with a really challenging breed to train. Grooming could be a few times a week, 10 minutes each time at most. I'm not really into grooming. Thanks in advance!
Answer:Try to find as many of these tests as you can (theres lots, just google 'dog breed selector test') and see what breeds crop up again and again. Draw up a list of these breeds and then research each one to see which suits you best Hope this helps and Good luck with your search
norfolk terrier, pomeranian, chinese crested, black russian terrier, new guinea singing dog, portugese water dog, english setter, komondor, corgi, spinone italiano, parson russel terrier, borzoi american water spaniel, tibetan terrier, jack russel, swiss mountain dog, lowchen, silky terrier, english foxhound, boerboel, finish spitz, bull dog, kerry blue terrier, shetland sheepdog, soft coated whealen terrier, newfoundland, irish terrier, poodle, scottish deerhound, shapei, staffordhire bull terrier, harrier and redbone coonhound. i saw them advertised £100 and £50 back at xmas if you still have got it, n it said they are smoot haired hardly shed and some other stuff i just thought omg, how can a dog have so many breeds mixed up in it like that? is it some kind of designer dog or something? i thought you werent supposed to breed mutts or am i missing something here? apparently previous litters have been good temperament but i mean how would you know what there gona be like when theres that many different breeds? what have they done bred every single dog theyve had with different breeds or something? i guess im just wondering your opinions on this. i just think its wrong. ps im not actually joking the advert was in the shop window with pictures and everything not trolling, lol deadly serious, i was appalled at it
Answer:I can't tell if you are serious or just trolling, but lets go with the most obvious Trolling. Breeding this many breeds of VARYING sizes wold not only be impractical, but insane and led to a dead bitch and or litter or two. I am still voting Trolling however.
and does not have a huuuuuge tendency to be determined to run away. i dont want a pit bull, any sort of mastiff, dogo, akita, doberman, rottweiler etc. nothing like that. i DO want something that isnt so common like labrador or border collie i am fairly experienced with dogs, will get plenty of exercise (atleast 1 and 1/2 bike ride and walk per day) plus off leash i have a hectare to run in plus another dog. i was thinking about: -nova scotia duck tolling retriever -norwegian elkhound -american water spaniel -finnish spitz
Answer:Most of the medium size dogs in the sporting group couls wour in your situation with training aruond the chickens. Some to consider are english springer spaniel, brittany, english, german shorthair or wirehair pointer or any of the setters.
