Latest Anatolian Shepherd Dog Frequently Asked Questions:
my friends dog passed away recently she was a Anatolian shepherd she wants another 1 but we cant find one around us can you help me find one for her???
Answer:You want to get one from a reputable breeder. I always start at the breed's club. Here is the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America. The direct link won't work so click on breeders list and then click on "I agree". There are none listed in KS, but you could have a dog shipped to you or travel to a near by state. http://www.asdca.org/
Like Cooked Ground Beef, Bacon, Steak, Pork? I sometimes mix it with Cheese, Salsa, and other Veggies. I have a Anatolian Shepherd Dog. 2 years old, fully grown
Answer:veggies are good for dogs but don't feed them dairy products as those give them diarrhea and make their stomach upset salsa is a no no too just meats and veggies
I just want a pretty good knowledge about them I know reading about them and owning one are two different things but I want to know as much as possible before getting one..... Personal stories would be great ^.^
Answer:I think this link says a lot. It's a good thing to do your research first! Good job.
I have a 6 month old, 60 lb Anatolian Shepherd/Mastiff. He is still squatting to pee, shows no signs of dominance or aggression, and is never around un-spayed female dogs (and there is no possibility of him escaping as I always accompany him outside) so there's no chance of him adding to the unwanted pet population. I know the more current belief is that giant breed dogs can be fixed at a young age without negative growth effects, but I also know there is still a large number of people who prefer to wait until all growth is final and the growth platelets are sealed. He is my baby, and I don't want to have him fixed too early and negatively affect his growth or health. I also need him for protection since I live alone, so I worry that neutering him while he is young might make him less protective. So, for the people with large breed dog experience ONLY, what age did you have your dog fixed, why, and have you had any regrets about the age you chose? Bonnie-I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't throw out insults before knowing the background. He is actually a rescue dog someone had dumped in the country.
Answer:Actually, many breeders of large dogs don't recommend neutering until about 18 months- 2 years. It does have an effect on their overall growth and if you get them neutered too early, they will not reach their full potential in terms of size.
My 11 year old Anatolian Shepherd Dog has a tumor in her brain. She has been spayed since she was six months old and I thought that spaying a dog would have prevented cancer! The vet says the tumor is metastic, and it will continue to spread. I adopted from a rescue and had her spayed when she was young. I thought this was suppose to prevent cancer!
Answer:It prevents some cancers, but not all. Hang in there, and good luck!
