  • Where can I get a Black Russian Terrier puppy?
I've been doing some research and a Black Russian Terrier is exactly what I need. Because of its protective instincts, though, I need to get it young. The problem is that the only ones I can find for sale are born from Kennel Club show dogs. I have no desire to pay top dollar for a show dog with papers. Where can I get a fairly priced Black Russian Terrier puppy? The closer to central Oklahoma, the better.
Answer:I got to meet 4 of the first 8 that entered the U.S......Monsters! There really aren't that many breeders in the U.S. that are breeding for working ability in the BRT. Fairly priced I'm sure is still gonna be well over $1000. You must be a glutten for punishment. Raising a good, working BRT would be kinda like raising Great White Shark puppies.

  • Can someone tell me the difference between a Bouvier des flanders and a Black Russian Terrier ?
These dogs look exactly a like. I looked up both breeds.
Answer:Bouviers are herding breeds from Belgium, Black Russian terriers are a working/guarding breed from (of course) Russia. Both can be used in protection work. BRTs are bigger, if I recall, though Bouviers are still plenty big. Edit: guys...Bouviers are from Belgium, not France (even though it's a French name). Flanders is in the country of Belgium. They are actually vaguely related to the Belgian shepherds.

  • Black Russian Terrier refuses to show his bite?
I am planning to show my BRT. He is responding well to clicker training; however, the clicker does not work when it comes to opening his mouth and to show his bite. He just throws a fit. What to dooo? What to dooo? Can you help? Thanks a lot in advance. chris
Answer:You just plain need to be handling his mouth more. If you work on brushing his teeth every day, he'll get over any aversion to having you handle his mouth. When you first put shoes on a human infant, they throw a fit too. It doesn't hurt them; it's just new. Your dog, like the baby, simply has to get used to something new until it isn't new any more.

  • I need to find a male black Russian terrier from anywhere but the UK to breed...?
I want to breed my female but want a different gene pool, so it needs to preferably be from Europe..? Where can i find one?
Answer:Go to your local breed club. Ask around, and see if there are any male BRT's out to stud.

  • I would like information and back ground on the Black Russian Terrier?

Answer:Check these links: http://www.akc.org/breeds/black_russian_terrier/index.cfm http://www.akc.org/breeds/black_russian_terrier/history.cfm http://www.brtca.org/isbrtrightforyou.htm http://www.brtca.org/breedhistory.htm http://www.brtca.org/health.htm All the info you could ask for! ADDED: Don't know much personally about the breed, but I do know that they were bred during by/for the Russian (USSR) military during the Cold War. They are excellent guard dogs, but can be aggressive and do require someone with an assertive personality who can and will train the dog.
