We are looking for something femine but tough.
Answer:How about Georgia or Dixie?
After laying down she will get up and there will be a wet spot about as big as a garbage can lid. Its not urine or from the anal gland. It has no smell. At first I thought it was just alot of drool but that was just wishful thinking. She is in excellent health shows no sign of distress of any kind. Just maybe twice a week after taking a little nap there will be a little present. Help! what can this be?..oh and also she is very very bad but wow she makes me smile but i dont think that has anything to do with said leak........the reason i dont think its the anal gland ..i have read about them and its not fitting discription...its a big spot BIG she leaves its wet ..some times very wet and there is no smell help!
Answer:Go talk to your vet, it could be urine, which means it could be a urinary tract infection, or possibly a behaviour thing, but they'll get you the answers.
I've heard that if my black and tan coonhound puppy doesn't get the right amount of vitamins in her diet in the first year, her feet could actually grow outward and be crooked. This true?
Answer:Splayed feet are probably more often due to genetics, however proper nutrition will help his body develop to his full potential. During a pup's first year her joints are not fully formed (still have a lot of cartilage) and the long bones aren't solid either due to growth plates. Injuries in the cartilage or growth plates can definitely deform a pups legs. However, I think poor nutrition would tend to limit a dog's growth and produce soft or brittle bones rather than twisted legs.
I'm planning on geting a dog soon and my ideal dog would be a Black and Tan Coonhound. I heard that if you get them when there puppys and untrained that they would not bark when they see coons and other animals is that true? Also how big do they get and how much would they cost an untraine puppy?
Answer:We have a redbone coonhound (she's about 5 now) and a black and tan (she's still a pup only 5-6 months) They WILL bark no matter what. It's the hound breed. It might not necessarily be at raccoons all the time, but it will be at squirrels, birds, other animals, other people, each other, a frog that just trying to make his way across the yard even with a dog 2 inches from him barking.... They don't care they will bark. But like any dog if you keep them interested in something and don't just leave them in the yard they shouldn't just bark for no reason. They get rather large, they are usually one of the tallest of the coonhound breeds, and can weigh easily up to 75-80 lbs. Our pup still has alot of growing to do and she's already 45lbs. Depending on where you are and the breeders they vary in price but I think the most expensive I've ever seen one was $400. We recently paid $200 for our black and tan. Then again we have alot of hunters in my area in NY and coonhounds are bred often (with papers and good lines, even though the dogs are just "dogs" to most the people, they do want to breed good lines). There are also TONS of these dogs in rescue b/c people get them and then are not prepared for the intelligence (they are meant to go off and find the prey on their own and know what to do with it) and the typical "hound" mentality of following their nose and easily getting lost since they tend to zone everything else out around them until they find the source of the smell they have. So if you can I suggest looking at one of the rescues too, there are lots of young dogs and even puppies!
I am terrified of my black and tan coon hound. when i come home from a long day of shopping, she jumps up and makes unwanted advances. also, when i sit down, she jumps up and licks my face! when I push her away, she just keeps attacking me. She doesn't seem to get my hints! geez any advice? ps- she is 15 months old
Answer:my dog does the same thing this is what i do and it really works when she is over excited and jumping licking and barking i get some treats and throw them on the other side of the room i guarantee she will stop her bad behavior good luck ps the unwanted behavior will only stop as long as you keep throwing her treats which in my dog is about 8 seconds of peace but i find 8 seconds is better than none
