I am wanting to train my bloodhound to track the scents of people so we can volunteer and she can be used for search and rescue. Not even sure where to begin- she's almost a year old, full blooded, bloodhound. She rocks. Any help? I apologize for the "baby talk" . . . my bloodhound is PUREBREAD, not FULL BLOODED- geez, don't answer fucking questions if you are going to be sarcastic and stupid. NOT AMUSING.
Answer:i would take her to petsmart to get her profesionally trained. i heard it takes a long time. And thats great that you want to volunteer! best of luck to both of ya
What is your best bet for loosing a bloodhound or any other dog breed tracking you? Get wet, change clothes?
Answer:It is virtually impossible to loose a well trained and experienced bloodhound. They can track your smell even if you walk down the middle of a river. They can track you even if you get into a car and drive off. You can try changing your smell, but that won't stop it for long.
My dads good friend is a bloodhound breeder and is willing to give us a free puppy. Its health is fine and all it needs is a good home. Although we have 3 cats already, my parents still dont want to get the puppy. I cant convice them with that Im an only child with A.D.H.D and with no one in our neighborhood to hangout with. Bloodhounds have alot of energy and thats what I need, but they still dont see that. What can I say besides the fact that I'd pay for the dogs requierments, to get them to side with me and say OK?
Answer:Puppies are one of the biggest pains for parents. We've had three at one time - and regardless of who pays for the puppy's expenses, there's still bathroom training, teething, obedience.... so much responsibility goes into owning a dog, which can't always be placed on a kid. Understand that if the dog gets into things, it's your parents, not you, who will have to be there to clean up. Sit down and have a discussion with them about exactly what responsibilities you'd each take on if you were to own and dog, maybe that will help you as a family make a smart decision.
I have done lots of research on what types of puppy food to feed my bloodhound puppy. I think I am going to go with Nutro Natural, but wanted suggestions from other large breed owners.
Answer:yea nutro is pretty good.all dog foods are bad and a raw diet is best but that is one of the best u can get besides the raw diet.another good 1 is blue buffalo.
We're thinking of getting a Bloodhound pup, and I was just curious, how long till it'll reach adulthood?
Answer:2 years for physical adulthood and up to 3 years for mental. Research the breed well before buying- they are high drive and make sure the line has OFA and CERF certification of at least 3 generation on both sides
