Can you train a bloodhound puppy to a wireless fence? Our puppy is 10weeks old. We plan to have her spayed. Will a wireless fence be enough to contain her as she gets older, with proper training?
Answer:You don't train your dog to a wireless fence, the fence keeps the dog in by using radio waves, with a device attatched to a collar. Wireless fences and shock fences are wastes of money, as they are not foolproof. They can and do malfunction, and they do not prevent another dog or animal to come on your property.
I have a two year old bloodhound and he is impossible off the lead. I know it is really hard to train them but does anyone have a fail proof way to get them to come back to you, or is he forever lead bound? P.S He doesnt even look up when you call him
Answer:You should do these simple things FIRST. Never leash him when he's anxious and excited. Never let him enter exit doors gates etc., first, YOU go first ALWAYS. Never use the dog's name to stop bad behavior, discipline or other negative reasons. Never give him a command that you don't make sure he does. Then, beings he's a baying, slobbering houn' Dahawg, it shouldn't be hard to find a treat he LOVES. Carry them with you. Put him on an extra long leash when you go to train him, (I use a rope on my hounds) let him get to the end and call him, "Clarence, HEYAH!!" Yank him back to you fast as you can and as soon as you call him. Give him a treat and PRAISE, PRAISE. You'll find that he may try to follow you thinking it'ld be a good short cut to the treat. Make him stay. I have my hounds sit. Contrary to popular believe, hounds aren't stupid. He should learn quick

I have a 6 month old Bloodhound and she is growing like a weed. My question is I read an article that said that for 6 month old Bloodhounds it is not uncommon for them to weigh 80 pounds or more. I am pretty sure mine is no where near 80 pounds, should I be concerned?
Answer:depends on the height of your dog, if height is: 23 to 27 inches at shoulder, weight is around: 80 to 110 pounds. Check this link to know more about your dog. http://dogtime.com/bloodhound.html
