Answer:CKC? I would stay away from that registry. I haven't heard good things about them. Go with AKC and the price all depends on if you are buying a pet or a show dog with winning bloodlines. We have an 11 week old border terrier who constantly nips us every time we go to stroke her - she thinks she's being playful but her bites are starting to hurt. Any tips on how to stop her doing this from tried & tested please?
Answer:I can only tell you what worked for us with our dogs (dobermans) when they were pups. The second she bites/nips , pinch her lip and in a low growling voice tell her "NOOO BITE". If she continues, pinch her a little harder, yes even if it gets to the point where you have to make her yip. This simulates a "tag" as an adult dog would do in disapproval. Chasing her around to correct her won't help, the correction has to come IMMEDIATELY and consistantly and make sure you growl the "NOOO BITE". Hope this helps. Good luck.

Answer:Try the kennel I linked. They seem like a credible breeder, but I only skimmed the site. If you talk to them, make sure to ask about how they run their kennel, ask to see the parents, and ask about the parents' medical histories.
My border terrier has just turned one. I was feeding him dry food mixed with warm water 3 times daily,however he seems to have gone off this now and seems to prefer Pedigree dog meat. How much should i be feeding him everyday?
Answer:The simple answer is that you should feed him the right amount to keep him slim and within the standard. Most Bts are really greedy so it's odd yours is picky - although I know some are. I wouldn't feed wet tinned food - I think it's nasty - have you considered Raw feeding? or a really good quality kibble? what country are you in? oh and at a year mine were only fed once a day - make sure you are not giving too much - mine have one cup kibble once a day plus a couple of treats
i just got a rescue dog last week. I can tell she is not confident she hangs her head and her tail is hung low. How do I make her a more confident dog? or is she still adjusting to her new environment? She is a border terrier dog. She was a farm dog and now she is in the suburbs. She is not used to the loud sounds of the "city".
Answer:Time, patience and exposure to the scary things. Have lots of treats on hand, in your pockets so you can treat her quickly when she reacts well. If you are walking her and a loud truck or something goes by and it scares her, pick her up and just stand and let it go by. Put her back down and when she's acting good treat her.Any time she shows confidence to something that has scared her give a good treat, it should be a treat she only gets for confidence building.
