  • How do I get my boston bull terrier to get along with my rat terrier?
My 5 year old boston terrier we just got from the pound HATES my 1 year old rat terrier. How do i get them to be friends and what is the estimated time it would take??
Answer:I recently adopted a Kelpie x Border Collie puppy from our local shelter. We have a 7 and a half year old mixed breed dog. For the first week our older dog was very standoffish and rather aggressive at times towards the puppy, who only wanted to play with him. I've had the puppy for 6 weeks now and the two of them are great buddies, with only minor snarling and lunges if the pup gets annoying. It usually takes about 2 weeks for them to sort out who's the boss and any aggression should not be interrupted unless it is life threatening or completely out of order. Our older dog was evicted outside if he lunged at our puppy for no reason. He's got the message now. Remember though that you can't make two dogs like each other; they're just like people.

  • What are the benefits of neutering my boston terrier?
I have a 3 year old Boston terrier who I have yet to get fixed.. I like the fact that he is very active and has a great personality, dunno if this will change..
Answer:He may calm down a bit but his personality shouldn't change.. One major benefit he will have is that he'll be healthier in the long run.

  • How to raise a boston terrier puppy?
We just got a little boston terrier puppy that's around 8 weeks old. I was wondering what kind of things are necessary to raise this dog healthy and in the best possible way?? He seems to be open with us already (being this is the first night home with us) like playing around and everything I just want to know a few other things.
Answer:The breeder really should have gone over this with you. And, you really should have done this research BEFORE the dog came home. There's too much stuff to ask us to list it for you. Start reading - books & the internet. Find a resonsible breeder and ask them to help you through it. Good breeders are so involved with the breed that they should help you. Find a Boston Terrier community webpage and ask them for help. Realistically, the research and breeder should have taken care of a large part of this. Next time, be more prepared and be sure to use a good breeder. Have fun with your pup!!! : ) http://bostonterrierclubofamerica.org/ http://www.bostonterrierclubofamerica.org/ReputableBreeder.html

  • How long will my Boston Terrier act weird after his dental exam?
My Boston Terrier had a senior dental cleaning yesterday along with a few teeth extractions. He was put under Anesthesia while they were doing all of it. Hes home now and is acting pretty funny, he seem really tried/exhausted. He just doesn't seem him self, for example, he sleeps a lot normally but he doesn't seem to be getting any sleep at all now. Has anyone else experiencedd this? How long does he act soweridd?
Answer:omg i have a lasa apso and he acted the same way! we got so scared! the day after his exam we still had to carry him out of the house to go pee, he wouldnt do it himself so we called the vet because this is when they said it should have already worn off. he also wasnt drinking or eating which worried us more and the vet said boil plain white rice and plain chicken and feed it to them, THEY LOVE IT! we did and he ate and was back to normal in no time.

  • Why does my housetrained boston terrier eliminate in my house behind things or when no one is around?
I have a female Boston Terrier and she is house trained:however, she has started to eliminate behind things and in the bathroom when no one is around. Please help me on this.
Answer:Has she been punished for eliminating in the house in the past??? If yes then it can cause her to hide when eliminating and maybe wait until no one is around. You see a dog cannot tell the difference between the mess on the floor and the act of going, when you punish or "rub" their nose in it they think you are mad at the mess and will "hide" it from now on. If she's going in the house then start being diligent on getting her out more to go and go back to housetraining 101 and start over. Do not punish if she has an accident just ignore she'll figure it out again. Also you didn't say how old she is. If she's an adult rule out any medical reasons, but chances are it's a behavioral issue. Has anything changed lately?? Has someone new moved into the house?? someone moved out??? I know cats don't like change and will do that but I'm not sure about dogs.
