Latest Bouvier des Flandres Frequently Asked Questions:

  • does any one have a bouvier des flandres (it is a type of dog)?

Answer:Check it out at: http://www.akc.org/breeds/bouvier_des_flandres/index.cfm These are big, tough dogs that need a LOT of grooming and exercise. If you've never obedience trained a dog before, don't start with this breed!

  • Bouvier Des Flandres has bloat? Maybe?
Can puppies get bloat? Mine is 14 weeks and she was running around outside for about an hour and a half with my older dog and now her stomach is HUGE but she's not foaming and her gums arnt pale and she's not restless or whining..and i know she doesnt have worms cause on saturday i took her to get her second dose of de-wormer... any potential causes? I know dogs 4-10 years are most prone to bloat, but hey she could be the exception. And NO she's not pregnant.
Answer:Anything is possible, but if she was truly bloating, she would NOT be running around with your other dog. She would be in terrible pain, trying to vomit/cough, back haunched up, etc. I would take her to the Vet, just to be sure, as bloat kills......very, very fast!

  • Bouvier des flandres?
What do you think of these dogs? LINK: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/bouvierdesflandres.htm Do you own one or know somebody that owns one? What are their personalitys like? are they difficult to train? I have read the info the question is mainly for the owners of this breed so i can find out what they are like away from the average showdog quality
Answer:They are not a breed for first time dog owners. A lot of them are very dog aggressive and they need someone who can be on top of them at all times in the training process. They tend to be hard headed. In fact, the ones I've seen at herding trials often can't be let off leash because they'd try to rip the sheep to shreds - not something you want to see in a herding dog! If you've seriously looked into the breed, you know that you also need to be very selective in choosing the breeder because they are subject to a lot of health problems.

  • APBT vs. Bouvier des Flandres?
who would win in a fight if they were raised exactly the same way i do not encourage dog fighting in any way, and i just want to know for personal knowledge. I have a pit bull, and i would NEVER fight it, i am just wondering if a smaller dog breed for fighting would beat a larger dog breed for other reasons well i asked a question, and get a bunch of un-usefull answers Dale T. i dont need that, i am not into dog fighting, i am curious if a small dog breed for fighting would be able to take on a larger dog not breed for fighting i would NEVER fight my APBT or any other dogs, so please stop posting all this crap, everyone
Answer:i really don't know why you need to know this. the question is just putting a negative image on yourself. the pitbull would probably win because of their jaw structure, but please never actually try to find out.

  • Should I get a Bouvier Des Flandres dog?
Does anyone have experience with this breed? I'm aware that they have extensive grooming needs and I have read all of what the internet sites have to offer, but does anyone have any personal experience? I would like to do obedience, but the dog will basically be a companion. For "pet stores sell puppy mill pets" you could not be farther from the truth in your assumption that "It sound like you want a dog that doesn't need alot of exercise" I run 5 miles a day. I want a dog that can keep up. Plus your answer is way too long. Everyone please give that answer a thumbs down. For "pet stores sell puppy mill pets": Companion does not mean a lapdog. Most dogs are companion. Jogging with your dog does not make equal working your dog. As you can see I stated I wanted "personal experiences" not a cut and paste from a website...retard
Answer:Big, very athletic and very protective. You will need to work hard to make a Boov a good canine citizen. They have high exercize requirements, both physical and intellectual. They are great dogs but the protective thing can get in your way. Your personal companion dog will try very hard to keep everybody else away from you. This can get old, if you know what I mean :) Go meet some, and their owners and breeders. Be careful, they are a handful. I think they are worth it, but a handful nonetheless :)
