I would like to buy a Bullmastiff puppy but I am not sure what physical characteristics to look for. I had boxers, german sheperd, I have a briard, but a I am not sure about hips, ears... I am planning to have him as a pet, not to show. Thanks
Answer:They are awesome, gorgeous dogs, But do have some health problems they are prone to like many other breeds. Offhand, I know heart problems,hip problems,elbow problems are issues with them.. so if going through a breeder, find a breeder that screens for all of those things. Why don't you look for some mastiff forums and ask some people with more experience? Also, you can look for a rescue..or shelter that has Mastiffs. www.petfinder.com.

Answer:In Canada they can be cropped, in Europe it varies from country to country. Some still allow cropping and cropping would be acceptable in the breed in those countries. In some countries where cropping is banned dogs from countries where it is legal can still be show cropped others ban all cropped dogs from show regardless of if it is legal in the country the are from or not
The Claritin D commercial where the lady is in the park I do believe, the dog is big black and white with long hair, the ears look like maybe it's mixed with Briard, or is this a full blooded breed? Thanks.
