Seeking Chesapeake Bay Retriever breeders in NY, PA or any other Northeastern States. Thanks so much
Answer:Go to www.akc.org & find breeders that belong to the closest local chapter of the Chessie breed club. Buy from a breeder that tests & certifies their breeding dogs against hip dysplasia (w/ OFA or Penn Hip) & eye problems (w/ CERF) to ensure a healthy, well-bred companion. Good luck!
She's eleven months old and my parents are really worried that the whole house is going to smell like her. I'm afraid if I bathe her too much her coat or skin will ge too dry. Those familiar with the breed know that Chesapeakes have a sort of musty dog odor within a week or two of being bathed.
Answer:You won't necessarily dry out your dog's skin by giving him frequent baths. Try a weekly, or every other week bath with a mild Oatmeal shampoo. Your dog may do just fine. If your really concerned they also make conditioners for dogs as well. If his skin starts to dry out just increase the amount of time between baths so his natural oils have time to catch up.
