We have an electric fence, will this work for keeping an english cocker spaniel in? We have a very large yard and we can't put an actual fence all the way around so would this be a sufficiant way of keeping them in? The dog would only be out to play with us or go to the bathroom. he/she wouldn't live outside.
Answer:It doesn't matter if you actually have a cavalier, a havanese, or an english cocker - if the dog sees something it wants more than it's afraid of the shock, it's going to go through to get it. But it won't take the shock a second time to come back. An electric fence also won't stop any loose neighborhood dogs from coming in and attacking any dog you might happen to have.
