Puppy Dog Breed English Foxhound

Latest English Foxhound Frequently Asked Questions:

  • i want to get a pointer, black and tan coonhound,or a american or english foxhound but will they protect me?
i know that all dogs have a natural guard ability
Answer:My parents have an American Foxhound Mix and I have a Black and Tan Coonhound and a Pointer Mix. My Pointer is just a big wuss, and so is the purebred Pointer down the street. All three of our dogs are great as far as alerting us when they hear any type of noise. My Black and Tan can be a bit intimidating sounding and at times, even intimidating looking, even though he is still technically a puppy. Both of our boys, the foxhound and coonhound, are very hard headed with strong personalities and tough, but I would not trust them with guarding myself and my home. They are a great natural alarm system, but I would leave the guarding to yourself!

  • What are the best names for a English Foxhound?

Answer:some good names are hunter, chase, miles, norman, and charlie. ; )

  • English Foxhound? Want a dog thatdoesnt shed a lot, and needs minimal grooming and doesnt bark a ton, yes, no?

Answer:Well, better than a beagle, but think about it..Foxhound...what are they trained to do? They have that loud hunting bark.

  • America or English Foxhound Breeders?
I have been looking for months to find a Foxhound Breeder in the US, but I have been unable to find one. Does anyone know of one? Thanks!
Answer:Did you try the AKC site? I looked up your breeds on there and in about 10 seconds was referred to the US clubs, which have breeder links or e-mail addresses. Be sure you know all you can about the breed and to look for a reputable breeder. Good luck in your search!

  • English Foxhound... is she?
I rescued a neglected dog named Kyra. We suspect that she is probably around two years old, maybe slightly less. Our main issue is, partially out of curiousity, is that we cannot discern her actual breed, or combinations thereof. We believe she is at least part English foxhound, and possibly Husky, only because of her big, bright blue eyes. But no one, not even our vet can really speculate with approximate accuracy what she could be. We're too, for the lack of a better word, poor, to get genetic testing, so I wondered if there was anywhere I could submit a picture for an educated guess. And for very little money :) The second reply is moronic... I meant to send a picture in, dim-wit.
Answer:The genetic testing would be a waste of your money. Here is a test result on a Purebred Champion dog, you will laugh when you see what the genetic "test" says he is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a4CDvK868w There is no way anyone can make an educated guess, its just a guess, and in the long run it does not affect how you feel about your dog. Make up whatever you want that makes you happy.
