  • Is there such a dog as a miniature Finnish spitz?
We adopted our dog from the shelter a couple of years ago and the shelter couldn't tell us what type of dog it was. It looks like a Finnish Spitz, but it weighs only 20 pounds. My wife and I would love to know if there is such a dog as a miniature finnish spitz. Any opinions would be most appreciated.
Answer:There is a Giant/Medium/Small version of the German Spitz: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/germanspitz.htm Maybe your dog can be that type of spitz? If not, she is probably mixed with a Pomeranian or LH Chi. Never know. Hope that helps!

  • How to get my Finnish Spitz mix to stop being so aggressive with Pit Bull Puppy.?
I have a Finnish Spitz mix of 2 years of age and I just got a new Pit Bull puppy 2 weeks ago. He is 10 weeks, My Finnish Spitz is very protective over her doggie treats. When the pit bull comes near her treats she attacks him. How do I get her to stop attacking him? Thanks Andy :]. that should work. The only problem with that is if one doesn't eat the treat the other tries to steal it :[
Answer:I think i have a good answer, okay take your Finnish Spitz in 1 room with you(do not give treats to your Finnish Spitz at the moment), then ask a family member to bring the pup in, then when your Finnish Spitz see's the pup give a treat to "both" your Finnish Spitz and the baby pit, the reason why is so the Finnish Spitz will want the puppy around, he thinks he'll get a treat

  • what are the pros and cons of finnish spitz dogs?
my family and i are looking for a dog.we have considered a finnish spitz but are concerned about the barking. we also live in the counttry so our yard is not really fenced in but we do have a fair bit of land...would this be ok for the spitz? or would it run away or have problems with wild animals?
Answer:Any breed from Spitz's, Labs, Shepperd's to Poodles the rules are always the same for all dogs. Most puppies need to be trained not to bark sense this is their natural way of communication. Without training this can become a habit that takes a lot of work to break. It is wise to never let any breed of dog run wild. When outside it should either be on a leash or in a fenced in yard. Yes, if you let your dog run free it can roam, run away, get hit by a car and stolen. Your dog is personal property and you can get sued for any problems that it can cause by running free. I live in the mountains with bears, bob cats so this is another important reason not to let a dog run wild and free. Learning about the care of dogs is important before bringing one home. I hope I have been of some help.
