Latest German Pinscher Frequently Asked Questions:
Does anyone have any experiance with German Pinschers? Like how they act with other animals or people? Are they easy to train?
Answer:My brother actually had 2 of them. They are so incredibly intelligent. They are not for the novice owners. Because my brother's dogs, and the breed are very determined and they always try to get what they want. They try to outsmart you. They are like a bullmastiff in a little dog's body. I would tell him that all the time, because my bullmastiff is the same way, so intelligent, but constantly trying to outsmart you. If you are a good trainer, and give good discipline, this dog is great, otherwise this dog will walk all over any body and every body. Are are easy to train, very easy, My brother asked me to train them to roll over and to hide and take a bow, both learned all 3 tricks with in 2 days. We just needed to reinforce them. German Pinchers are great guard dogs, they warn away intruders, but they are accepting of others, if you are. if they sense you nervous around someone, they will sense it too, and will not like that person. It's all about socialization and training your dog. Good Luck and Best wishes! hey are a high commitment dog: very intelligent, determined, manipulative and assertive. The German Pinschers make a wonderful companion with firm yet gentle and consistent discipline. They keep their playfulness well into adulthood.

The german pinscher apears to be midway between a minpin and a dobe in size . as an apartment dweller who likes a rowdy , rough and tumble friend i am considering one and would like feeback on temperment , health issues etc etc .I have already gone to the gpc website and looked at offical info but wanted more of an owner perspective .
Answer:A friend in Michigan had a German Pinscher. He was a very sweet dog. They raised him from a pup and had 2 kids while he was around, and he did wonderfully with them. The thing is, like the first answerer said, they are so full of energy, an apartment would not be my first choise with a dog like that. You may consider a smaller dog, like a terrier. They are great friends, very smart, and can make do in an apartment.
