Answer:I searched the Glen of Imaal website and contacted all the breeders listed and asked them to put me on their waiting lists. We have a yard but a smallish house so we can't have a large dog, but are not too fond of tiny dogs. any descriptions of their demeanor?

If you are briging it up from a puppy I would says yes, but if it is a rescue, bring it home first and associate it with the family, learn its behaviors and see how it does. The Glen of Imal Terrier is a very ancient dog breed, and is very domesticated and easy to make house pets. Since they are more rare than other dog breeds, if you are familar with the Kerry Blue Terier, the Soft-Coated Wheaten or Irish Terriers they have close to the same temperment and behavior. Rare breed... Being resourceful on the internet... I searched everywhere with no luck.... I found alot of nice Jack Russels which would be mysecond choice.

Answer:It depends. A reputable breeder may charge over $1000, and you only want to buy from a reputable breeder if you want a puppy. An adopted purebred may only be $150 or $200. Make sure you understand the idiosyncrasies of this breed. Terriers of *any* type are not always for everyone. They also may be prone to hip problems, eye problems, and skin problems. NEVER buy from a pet store, a puppy mill, a backyard breeder, a newspaper ad, an internet ad, etc. I'll give you a few links to help you determine what a reputable breeder is, what to expect with an Imaal, and some rescue sites. : )
