  • Was the Hawker Harrier the most innovative war plane ever?
It's vertical take off and landing capabilities separated it from the rest I think. Are you talking about American crew I don't rememeber many British crashing Disagree dsclimb it proved itself during the Falklands war

  • What is the best way to become a Marine Harrier Pilot?
Im a softmore in high school and have always wanted to be a ground support fighter pilot. I was wondering what the best way to become one and if i need to be taking and special classes going into my junior and senior year. My GPA throughout high school has been a 3.8
Answer:I also wanted to do that (but I wanted to fly the F-18 not the AV-8 lol but the requirements are the same), so I have done a ton of reaserch on this. To be a pilot in the Corps you have to become an officer. To become an officer you must graduate college, you can go to the Naval Academy as your college and earn a commission there if you want, but it is extremly hard to get into (if you want to know how, ill tell you, just ask), or you could go to another college, and then after go to OCS (officer condidates school), and I THINK (im not 100% on this one) that you can enlist right after high school, and still go to college and the Corps will pay for it, and then after you graduate you can request to go to OCS. But once and if you earn your commission as an officer, you must try to get the aviation pilot MOS, (sometimes you do not get the MOS you wanted) and even if you are qualified to select that as an option depends on your ASVAB score (if you want to know what that is ill tell you, you just have to ask), but if you get the aviation pilot MOS then ( and this I am also not sure about), you can either select, or be quilfied, or just be randomly chosen to pilot one of the Corps many aircraft, all the way from the AV-8 to the F-18, to the AH-1. Hope this helped, and the best of luck to you. Semper Fi. ~YM PFC Blais

  • Why are RAF pilots wearing naval badges of rank on the harrier force?
There was a program on tv the other night about pilots in afghanistan and i noticed that the RAF pilots were wearing naval badges of rank. Can anyone tell me why please?
Answer:According to the first source link I posted below, On RAF mess uniforms, officer ranks are indicated with gold braid stripes on the lower sleeves. This is similar to Naval officer ranks. Click on the second source link I posted below for a photograph of a RAF Flight Lieutenant's sleeve. Click on the third source link I posted below for an illustration of a Royal Navy Lieutenant's sleeve.
