Answer:well it dependes why you want females 1 yr or older ??? Some quick cash on breeding? Go to the breeder get a puppy and take care of it. You will have an idea what it feels like to take care of one puppy not 8 and then if you still want to breed them and find them good homes go ahead

I just adopted him yesterday from a rare breeds adoption center. I've done my research and read that hounds need a fair amount of exercise and mental stimulation as they are very active dogs. I know that 17 weeks maybe a bit young but i want to start him early so he doesn't have health issues later on in life. I already have lots of toys for him and feed him Blue Buffalo puppy chow as thats what they fed him before i adopted him. I already took him for a short walk this morning what else can i do that is healthy for him?Any help is greatly appreciated!Thank you in advance!
Answer:TRAINING!!! At 4 months old your pup is ready to work at your side at all times, the toys are a distraction to what he really wants and that's time with you. Obedience training should be top priority. COME, SIT, DOWN, STAY, are mandatory. Your hound is a sight hound, he'll have long legs and want to stretch them out. A large wooded area, after he learns the come command. Look for field trials in your neighborhood, or go to your game wardens office on post and ask when they have canine training for the military dogs and join their group training. Spending time with your pup is all he really wants, now for the toys well they'll do when he has to be left alone. The Kong toys are good they make a dog work for the treats inside. They occupy their time and effort when your not around for him to please. Enjoy your pup, you'll have many years of companionship, and a great social life if you get involved with field work, or agility training, dog people are a great group and always ready to help and advise, in your pups best interest.
