[JAPANESE CHIN = DOG] They are sensitive to heat
Answer:My home is kept around 75 during the winter and 65 during the summer time. If your chin baby is uncomfortable, he/she would start panting and you'll know to bring it down a notch. When my pups were younger, I had them sleep with an electric blanket when they slept in their doggy beds on the floor. It get quite cold here during the winter and my hardwood floors are chilled to the bone. Now when the chins got older, I've got them sleeping in my bed and sometimes they even bury themselves under my blanket when it gets too cold at night.

Can you give a brief summary about your Chin and everything about him/her? I am thinking of buying a Japanese Chin soon. Thanks!!! I need 'personal experience' from real people who have a Japanese Chin. On the internet, it says all about them, but some are different and yeah.
Answer:I have 3 chins (2 male and 1 female). They all have very different and distinct personalities due to the fact that they all came from different breeders. So my number one recommendation is to meet the potential parents on site and observe thru many visits as possible as how do they interact with you and their surroundings. If the parents are hyper or really shy then more than likely your new puppies will be too. Ask lots of questions since good breeders will be full of knowledge about the parents and the breed itself. My girl came from a show family with calm parents and she has grown up into a gem. She was my first and everything about her oozes the standard. She seldom barks ever, likes to climb and very outgoing because she not too shy about strangers. I was very lucky to have seen the parents in person before deciding to get her. I visited them like 3 times before finally bringing her home. Then my next chin (a boy), was from out of state so I didn't get that on hand approach and you can definitely tell the difference between the two. He's more hyper, not so gentle and likes to bully the other two because of his size. It's hard to judge from a picture on-line how big the puppy is going to get. He still has great chin qualities, like the climbing and chin spins but loves to bark. He's not shy and very stubborn. He's 12 lbs but acts and think like he's a german shepard. He's definitely a good watch dog for me. Then my last boy I just got 2 months ago. He was already a year old when I got him and from my past experience, I got him in my state and went to visit the family before bringing him home. He also came from a show home and was already housebroken and he likes to wooo me. He's very talkative but doesn't bark. He's reserved with strangers at first but warms up right away and love giving kisses. He's more similar to my first girl rather than the other male I got. They love to play together then tires out and all pile up to sleep. They all have the inverted sneezing because of their flat faces. My girl snores when she sleeps but the boys doesn't. They all like being held and spoiled. All 3 have been to obediance classes so they are easily trained. They have been crate trained, uses the pee pads and use the outdoors too. My dogs are very smart since they've learned how to climb over my doggy gates so I just got taller ones. They all enjoy the dog park and walks. They travel very well together and can't wait until we get into the car. Chins are perfect for staying in hotels cuz they are so small. I take them on little getaways all the time. They do well with a routine and structure. They like being in a pack. I think that's why I my dogs get along so well because they don't have any agression in them. So you have to make sure that the parents doesn't also when picking out your puppy. You'll do great since you are already seeking out information about them. Set aside some time to do research about the breeders, remember to ask lots of questions and you should get a good chin. If you have any specific questions then feel free to contact me. They are really the best breed ever and you won't be dissappointed. So good luck in your search and I hope you'll find the perfect chin for you.
I have an all black Japanese Chin and I haven't been able to find pics of other all black Chins, I mean I know I'm not the only one that has one, but how rare are they? lol, no he is not a mutt, I got him from a very respected and well known breeder.
Answer:Solid black is not a standard (allowed) color in Japanese Chins. The gene for piebald (causing the white spotting) is recessive. so 2 piebald dogs would only have piebald puppies. Most likely your Chin is mixed, although it is possible (though not likely) that the piebald gene is so lightly expressed that the dog appears solid black. Edit: If you got him from a true responsible breeder then chances are it is a case of the piebald gene expressing so lightly that the dog appears solid. Odd but it does happen
