  • Lhasa Apso?
We are about to get a one year old Lhasa Apso, and we were wondering: Are they good dogs?? Do they require a lot of exercise? What is their temperament? Are they easy to train? Do they get many diseases?
Answer:Lhasa Apsos were originally bred to guard Tibetan temples. They can be tough, feisty, strong willed little dogs. They need obedience training plus training classes are a great way to bond with your new dog. They are intelligent and learn quickly. Lhasas can be stand offish and tend to be wary of strangers. Take your time with the dog, and be patient. Any rehomed dog can have issues, so don't expect the perfect dog overnight. They need gentle exercise so a stroll around the neighborhood or a romp in the yard will be plenty. For lots more information go to the American Lhasa Apso Club site http://www.lhasaapso.org/

  • lhasa apso?
hi i have a 2 year old lhasa apso who can be very temperamental especially when there is food around . she will snap at my other lhasa or even have a go at her , she also like this at night time when i go to bed she lays on the bed with me . then my b/friend comes to bed & brings the other dog to bed to lay on the bed she will go for her does anyone think this behaviour is normal if not how can i stop her from being aggressive regards lisa
Answer:this is very normal for lhasas. They used to be royalty remember. My lhasa is 4 and she had 2 litters of puppies, and she is still exceptionally tempermental. but she is also the most affectionate dog i've ever had, with the people she loves of course. she also doesn't listen well and isn't the best around kids, so i would remember that if you are planning on having children!

  • LHASA APSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have a 2 year old lhasa apso called smudge, hes quite well behaved, is there any more tips for them please
Answer:Not sure what kind of info you are looking for if it is 2 years old, but here it goes. Make sure they get plenty of exercise a day. Brush them out at least every other day, preferably every day to keep from matting. If they get bad enough mats, they have to be cut out and the mats themselves can be pretty painful for the poor pup. Also get them groomed approximately every 6 to 8 weeks. Keep a good eye on their eyes and teeth, just to make sure of no changes and they are healthy, which you should make sure to brush their teeth a couple of times a week if possible. Ummmm, have a lot of patience with training, they can tend to be a bit stubborn at times. Good luck to you and your Smudge!

  • My Lhasa Apso has to use the bathroom in her kennel?
Every night, I lock up my Lhasa Apso girl to go to sleep. At approximately 4 o'clock every morning, she starts whining and I wake up. I know it's because she has to go the bathroom. Should I just put her in the bathroom and put a piece of cardboard in it for her to use the restroom? Or will she learn how to hold it? I don't know what to do. D: She ish about 3 months old. Also, I put her to bed at about 10 pm.
Answer:You are extremely lucky she is telling you what she needs to do. Many dogs do not do that automatically. You need to take her out to go otherwise she will learn to go in the kennel and you will ahve to clean that up. If she is young or a puppy, she will learn to hold it longer and you will be able to get through the night. I would also recommend getting her outside. Although you can train her to go on a piece of cardboard, it would be better to train her to go outside so there is no confusion that outside is the place to go, and not inside. Good luck
